Oxygen Facial – The Magic of Oxygen for your Skin

February 3, 2017

Have you noticed your skin when you are regularly exercising? Your skin develops a lovely glow of unmistakable health.    Exercising oxygenates your body, which in turn improves the health and appearance of your skin.  By providing oxygen to your cells, it helps your skin become healthier, more beautiful and more resilient.

This is why your skin will love the Oxygen Facial. As skin ages, the oxygen levels in our facial tissues naturally decline, in part due to decreased blood circulation. By giving the skin additional oxygen, it will gently plump, and help the skin appear more firm. In addition, the oxygen will help to kill bacteria which provides a purifying treatment to clear the complexion and is excellent for conditions such as acne.

Procedure of Oxygen Facials

After cleansing and preparing the skin, the esthetician uses an Airbrush to apply pure oxygen to the skin.

This customizable facial allows the esthetician to modify the treatment to include items such as anti-aging ingredients, vitamins, antioxidants, nutrient extracts, botanicals, minerals and moisturizers, in addition to the oxygen. At high pressure, the anti-aging serum can go deeper into the skin where it can be absorbed effectively and can produce maximum effect.

The anti-aging serum is one of the most popular additions of the Oxygen Facial.   The reason for this, is because ingredients typically found in facial creams and other beauty products are often unable to fully penetrate the skin, as the molecules are too large and therefore the benefits of the wonderful ingredients often to not show the effects on the skin.

Hyaluronic acid and collagen, are commonly found in anti-aging creams but the molecular sizes make it hard for them to pass into the skin to work effectively. However, when these ingredients are applied during the facial with oxygen, they are able to penetrate, providing the results that are often lacking from skin creams.

Are there skin types that the Oxygen Facial is Not Well Suited For?

Those with very sensitive skin can sometimes have irritation and inflammation as a result of an oxygen facial.  Always discuss with your licensed esthetician your skin type and concerns to ensure the best possible result.
